Chris Hendricks, McClatchy VP/Innovation, will be the Thursday keynote speaker. On Friday, former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta will speak, and California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye will keynote the Better Newspapers Contest Awards luncheon on Saturday. At the Friday night dinner, attendees will hear from Los Angeles Times food critic and Pulitzer Prize-winner Jonathan Gold.

Conference session topics will include speakers on what Millennials want from their work and how to keep them motivated, the business and advertising impacts of the legalization of recreational marijuana,

how newspapers of all sizes are implementing sponsored content programs, tips on using Facebook to drive traffic and build reader engagement, a “hot idea” session featuring publishers who have implemented successful revenue programs and the vendors who helped them, tips on using the Public Records Act in local reporting and much more.

Primary registration is $300 for the first registrant from one individual newspaper flag. The secondary registrant from that flag is $200, and additional registrants are free, as are spouses. Meals are an additional cost.

Rooms at the Loews Beach Hotel are $299 per night, with $100+/night rebates offered by CNPA for additional nights stayed.
