Times Media Group acquired the assets of Agoura Hills-based Acorn Newspapers. In California. Acorn newspapers cover Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Camarillo.

Times Media Group’s holdings include Pasadena Weekly, LA Downtown News, The Argonaut in Santa Monica and the Ventura County Reporter. In August it acquired Capistrano Beach-based Picket Fence Media, which publishes the weekly San Clemente Times and Dana Point Times and the bi-weekly Capistrano Dispatch.

Jim and Lisa Rule (pictured) purchased a single Acorn publication out of bankruptcy in 1996 and expanded operations to add Acorn papers for Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Camarillo. Later, they launched Beyond the Acorn, a news and features magazine.

Times Media Group President Steve Strickbine founded his company in 1997; it operates more than 40 publications throughout Arizona and Southern California. Strickbine is a member of the CNPA Board of Directors.
