Barstow paper goes weekly

The Desert Dispatch in Barstow will become a weekly beginning Tuesday, April 18, Publisher Amy Pack said.

“It’s never easy to change, particularly when a publication has the rich history that the Desert Dispatch does,” Pack said. “But economically it just isn’t feasible for the newspaper to continue as a daily.”

The article said The Daily Press, a sister paper in Victorville, would continue coverage of Barstow and the surrounding area.

The Desert Dispatch, founded in 1910, has been owned by New Media Investment Group since 2014 and is operated by GateHouse Media.
