Bill preserves right to access directory information

Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 1036 by Senator Scott Wilk (D-Santa Clarita), a bill that prohibits an agency from publishing the home address of an individual who speaks at a school board meeting.

CNPA pushed for an amendment, which was ultimately included in the measure, that states that this new law will have no effect on the public’s right of access, preserving the right of access to directory information which is longstanding law.
