The Los Angeles Times reported on Feb. 7 that its owners, tronc, had reached a deal to sell The Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune, Spanish-language Hoy Los Angeles and community newspapers to Los Angeles biotech billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong.
His investment company will pay $500 million for the newspapers and will assume $90 million in pension liabilities.
