The California Journalism & Media Affiliates have named Brady Teufel Journalism Educator of the Year — 4-Year Division.

Teufel is associate professor of journalism and assistant department chair at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He has been integral to Cal Poly student media’s evolution into an integrated Mustang News operation, the nomination letter said.

“This also included the development of a new capstone course that requires students to produces stories across all platforms — print, digital and video. So students from print, broadcast and public relations all leave Cal Poly’s program with this valuable knowledge that is so needed in today’s media market,” the endorsement said.

Paul Bittick, a 2017 Educator of the Year, presented the plaque to his Cal Poly colleague at the California College Media Association awards banquet on March 3 in Long Beach.
