Cal Press internship grants for 2021

Editors and publishers with an interest in grant-funded interns in 2021: The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2021, for the California Press Foundation’s internship grants program.

Unnamed 37

The program will provide up to four $2,500 grants to college students who obtain newsroom internships at California news companies in spring or summer 2021. Also, Cal Press directors have earmarked one $2,500 grant for a most-worthy advertising or marketing intern.

Cal Press provides grants to select students who demonstrate an exceptional interest in pursuing careers in the news business in California. The students must seek and secure the internship on their own. Internships, which can occur in spring or summer, must be full time and last at least six weeks.

Now is the time to contact a college adviser. Ask about top students. Inquire about college credit for internships. Find a promising student from your area and endorse their application. Need introductions? Please contact us. Meantime, get application materials (pdf).

Cal Press interns in 2020 served at the Daily Press, Victorville; Lake County Record-Bee; Lodi News-Sentinel and SF Weekly. View all previous interns
