Lora Cicalo is now senior editor of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the newspaper reported. She had been managing editor since 2015 and with The Union-Tribune since 1987.California Times announced in July The Union-Tribune’s pending acquisition by investment firm Alden Global Capital, an affiliate of MediaNews Group and its Southern California News Group.“With more than 30 years as an editor, Lora has a strong background in news management and a rich and thorough knowledge of the greater San Diego area,” said Frank Pine, MediaNews’ executive editor.“These are challenging times for our industry, but the work we do has never been more vital — and there is no group more committed to continuing that work and to serving the San Diego community,” Cicalo said.
