Hover over a year in the right column to see CNPA’s Better Newspapers Contest results for daily, weekly and campus newspapers for that year.

Data for entry credits (writers, photographers) in some years was not available.

A campus contest was added in 2000, but campus newspapers were awarded only General Excellence until 2011, when the campus contest expanded to include other categories.

The CNPA Board of Directors renamed the contest the California Journalism Awards beginning in 2018 and that year added a Digital Contest open to CNPA digital news media members and print members.

Results prior to 1998 are currently available only as typewritten pages. We will scan and add those results as time permits.
