    Entry Title: Carr Fire coverage
Entry Credit: Record Searchlight staff Record Searchlight staff
Judge Comment: Having gone through a similar situation at my own newspaper, I know what challenges this staff faced, and they did a superb job of staying on top of all the elements of the Carr Fire's impact on the community while being displaced themselves. Job well done!

Entry Title: Veterans Home standoff ends tragically, with Pathway Home hostages and gunman dead in Yountville

Judge Comment: Great and timely reporting of a news story that was covered both statewide and nationally by other news outlets. But the hometown paper did a great job of getting information out even as the standoff continued for some eight hours. Well done.
