    Entry Title: Turkeys block traffic

Judge Comment: Immediately struck by the great composition and the humor. Nice depth of field. It’s great when turkeys cooperate, isn’t it? Must not have been taken close to Thanksgiving.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: The Fresno Bee
Entry Title: After watching someone inhale 73 tacos in 8 minutes, he may never eat again
    Entry Credit: Eric Paul Zamora
Judge Comment: What a mess…but what a great shot. Great lighting, nice job of stopping/capturing the action.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: The Sacramento Bee
Entry Title: Trump visits Camp Fire
    Entry Credit: Paul Kitagaki Jr.
Judge Comment: Great composition and nice depth of field. Really hits home, not just for the Camp Fire, but all of the devastating fires that have burned across California. Only thing that might possibly have made it a little stronger shot was to see at least a portion of the President's motorcade in the frame. But maybe the timing wasn't right and they weren’t quite around yet to make that happen.
  • Place Name: Fourth Place
    Contestant Name: Los Angeles Times
Entry Title: A Monument to a Memory
    Entry Credit: Carolyn Cole
Judge Comment: Nice lighting, well composed. These type of photos never get old. It's a shot that may have looked just as good or possibly even better in black and white.
  • Place Name: Fifth Place
    Contestant Name: The Fresno Bee
Entry Title: Valley Children’s doctors seek new ways to ease pain
    Entry Credit: Craig Kohlruss
Judge Comment: Great composition. Well done capturing the moment.
