    Judge Comment: These are both very informative articles the really spell out just how severe the damage is from the drought. Well-sourced, thorough research on top of a human narrative. This is the kind of journalism that really serves as a wake-up call to our legislators. I’m sure many farmers may not like hearing that they’re the ones causing the damage, but the facts are spelled out clearly and are hard to dispute.

    Judge Comment: A good explanation of how farmers decide which crops to plant, the risks they take, and the calculations they make in their decisions. Explains the dilemma for farmers whose once reliable and profitable crop could become a liability during the drought.
