  • Place Name: First Place
    Contestant Name: The Trinity Journal
    Entry Title: Marino's fire
    Entry Credit: Tony Reed
Judge Comment: This photo shows the futility of one person fighting a huge fire and looking for reinforcements. It's a quick read and compelling.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: The Trinity Journal
    Entry Title: Storm damage
    Entry Credit: Tony Reed
Judge Comment: I like the activity in this photo and would like it even more if it were cropped tight on the people on the right and the buildings behind them to better show the emotions on their faces.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Claremont Courier
    Entry Title: Back to school...finally
    Entry Credit: Peter Weinberger
Judge Comment: This is a solid photo that shows what classrooms now look like and what it's like to be a student. I wish there were a little wider view to show the spacing between students.
  • Place Name: Fourth Place
    Contestant Name: The Trinity Journal
Entry Title: Failure to get airborne
    Entry Credit: Tony Reed
Judge Comment: This is a spectacular fireworks photo, but I wish there was something in here -- people running, for instance -- to more quickly show that this was a mishap.
  • Place Name: Fifth Place
    Contestant Name: Rosamond News
    Entry Title: STRATOLAUNCH FLYS!!
Entry Credit: Cathy Hansen, Stratolaunch , JOHN JOYCE, Gayle Joyce
Judge Comment: The photo credit lists the photographer as the company that made the airplane. As this appears to be a handout photo, it was not eligible to be submitted.
