    Contestant Name: A News Cafe
Entry Title: Sherri Papinis’ Big Adventure: From Her House to the Big House
    Entry Credit: R.V. Scheide
Judge Comment: This is good, solid reporting. What a tale. It's absolutely unbelievable, but the writer did a good job in pulling the reader in. The truth is stranger than fiction sometimes and this is a a perfect example of that.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: California Health Report
Entry Title: Solutions For the Most Dangerous Part of Pregnancy: Violence in the Home
    Entry Credit: Claudia Boyd-Barrett
Judge Comment: We don't often think about domestic violence and pregnancy, but this was one of those pieces that makes you think. Not all pregnant women experience the joy of carrying and birthing a baby in a "conventional" environment. This was a good piece on a problem that often isn't discussed.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Capital & Main
Entry Title: No Place to Call Home
    Entry Credit: Ethan Ward
Judge Comment: This was a great story on a situation that we don't normally think about when we hear the word "homeless." It definitely tugged at the heart strings.
