    Contestant Name: Marin Independent Journal
Entry Title: Teen party investigation must proceed
    Entry Credit: Brad Breithaupt
Judge Comment: Strong work that makes clear the newspaper's stance: That law enforcement needs to be public in detailing its investigation, and that parents must take note of what their teens are doing. This is a topic of community significance. I like the details such as the $500 to $1,000 fines mean nothing to some of the offending families.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: Marin Independent Journal
Entry Title: Vehicle camp shows hard aspect of crisis
    Entry Credit: Brad Breithaupt
Judge Comment: This editorial explains the situation well. It includes important details, such as a limited ability for cities to act if they can't offer people viable alternatives for shelter.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Marin Independent Journal
Entry Title: Golden Gate Village plan is most realistic
    Entry Credit: Brad Breithaupt
Judge Comment: The costs detailsin this editorial are astounding! You have some very eye-opening facts in here.
  • Competition Comment: It's unfortunate that I could not judge the SLO entry after asking for a working password and asking which editorial the newspaper wanted judge (two editorials were submitted as one entry). I also called the newsroom multiple times trying to get anyone to answer to see if they could email the two editorials to me. My plan was to score whichever one I thought was the better of the two that had been submitted as one entry. No answer, multiple times. I know better than to sign up for a subscription that will automatically renew. I tried.
