  • Place Name: First Place
    Contestant Name: Pacifica Tribune
Entry Title: Public officials should watch what they tweet
    Entry Credit: Clay Lambert
Judge Comment: Great topics - social media and NIBMYS! Love the conversational style with just the right amount of snark. And I'd never heard of Godwin's Law! All in all, a great read.
  • Place Name: Second Place
Contestant Name: Half Moon Bay Review
Entry Title: We need to confront existential crisis as a community
    Entry Credit: Clay Lambert
Judge Comment: Lots has been written about climate change, but this really brought home the frustration of hearing public agenies talk and talk and do nothing. Could have benefited by suggesting steps public agencies should be taking, such as revisiting a ban on gas appliances in new construction.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Santa Barbara Voice
Entry Title: Take a Stand Against Banning Books
Entry Credit: Daisy Scott, Kerry Methner, Mark Whitehurst
Judge Comment: Good overview of an important topic. Would have liked to have seen a stronger call to action, like Read a Banned Book Today, or better yet, Buy a Banned Book Today.
