  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: Black Voice News
Entry Title: Long Haul COVID: Learning to be Your Own Advocate
Entry Credit: Breanna Reeves, Chris Allen
Judge Comment: Well written and reported story on the challenges African Americans may face in getting long term care for Long Haul COVID patients, particularly since Black Americans are disproportionately at risk.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: The Sun-Gazette
Entry Title: Thousands may lose access to local hospitals
    Entry Credit: Reggie Ellis
Judge Comment: An important series on the challenges facing Tulare County residents struggling to get admitted to the one local hospital - the series led to changes that could help hundreds of county residents get needed treatment.
  • Competition Comment: Every entry represents an important story that needs to be told. Both projects by Black Voice news were strong. Too bad only three entrees can be recognized.
