CNPA contest update: Judging time

Judges from publications that entered this year’s contests will work through February to determine the top five entrants in the California Journalism Awards’ various categories and divisions.

As noted here, the Print, Digital and Campus contests received a total of 3,036 entries, up from last year’s 2,972 entries.

The California Journalism Awards uses the BetterBNC contest system from CNPA Allied Member SmallTownPapers, Inc. All judging is performed digitally.

A select group of out-of-state judges are being assigned the following categories:

* General Excellence
* Enterprise News Story or Series
* In-Depth Reporting
* Investigative Reporting
* Public Service Journalism

Winners will be announced in mid-March.
