Recent CNPA work to support and preserve California public notice has included quantifying and categorizing all of the types of California public notice, creating a roster of non-Member adjudicated newspapers and continuing to drive Member newspapers to post their printed notices online and at CaPublicNotice.com.

CNPA also is monitoring action in other states that would disrupt the right to know by allowing governmental agencies to publish notices without engaging an adjudicated newspaper.

With CaPublicNotice.com, CNPA positions adjudicated newspapers as leaders in legal notice distribution. The statewide site preempts what at least 15 other states have been asked to construct by law.

In December 2021, the CNPA Board of Directors voted to approve a bylaw change that requires all adjudicated CNPA Members to post their public notices on their websites and on CaPublicNotice.com. The purpose of the requirement was to advance the profession’s interest in the effective distribution of public information and ensure digital access to any notices published in the State by any member of the public that may be interested in them.

CaPublicNotice.com is powered by Column, CNPA’s strategic partner. The company invites CNPA Members to the second edition of The Brief, Column’s virtual event showcasing product updates and company announcements.

During The Brief, at 9 a.m. Pacific this Wednesday, attendees will:

• Learn about the early success of Column’s automated affidavit service.
• Hear its CTO outline how the Column API is strengthening public notice for the next generation.
• Get introduced to the Column R&D Program, which is focused on expanding the value of public notice for publishers. Click to RSVP
