CNPA Members invited to Sunshine Week event March 18
In honor of this year’s 16th annual Sunshine Week, the Sonoma County Local News Initiative and Sonoma West Publishers is hosting a free, pre-registered virtual event on March 18 to highlight the importance of an open and transparent government with responsible journalism.
CNPA Members are invited to join the discussion with panelists Thomas Peele, Seth Rosenfeld, Lowell Bergman and Neil Chase. Sonoma West Publisher Rollie Atkinson will be the host and moderator. Topics will include state sunshine laws like California’s Brown Act to National Freedom of Information Day and FOIA requests.
This free event, presented by SCLNI & SWP Sonoma County Local News Initiative and Sonoma West Publishers, and sponsored by Northern California Public Media, will be held over Zoom and live-streamed on the Healdsburg Tribune YouTube channel from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 18. Pre-registration is required. To register, contact email@example.com.
Sunshine Week, March 14-20, was launched in 2005 by the American Society of News Editors – now News Leaders Association – and has grown into an enduring initiative to promote open government.
The annual nationwide celebration of access to public information and what it means is made possible by support from John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and The Gridiron Club and Foundation.
