CNPA requests that members provide information on the number of workers employed by newspapers

Staff is requesting that CNPA members provide us with the total number of employees working at your publications. The Legislature has heard CNPA’s arguments that journalism is essential to our democracy, but they need to know how many people are impacted if publications are unable to recover from the loss of ad revenue due to COVID-19 and the increase in costs if the news carrier exemption from AB 5 is not extended.

Staff will only share the aggregate number of newspaper jobs in California with the Legislature at the appropriate time. Information about individual publications will remain strictly confidential.

Please provide the total number of employees at your newspaper or in your group by Wednesday, July 1 to CNPA Staff Attorney, Brittney Barsotti by email at brittney@cnpa.com or by phone at 916-288-6006.
