CNPA’s contests draw 3,036 entries

CNPA’s contests draw 3,036 entries

Digital entries are up this year in the final tally of CNPA’s 2020 California Journalism Awards.

Overall, the contests received 3,036 entries, up from last year’s 2,972 entries.

The Digital Contest, now in its third year, received 699 entries, up 102 over last year.

Print Contest entries totaled 1,927, down from last year’s 2,006.

CNPA Campus members sent in 410 entries, up from 383 last year.

Judges from publications that entered this year’s contests will work in the coming weeks to determine the top five entrants in the CJA’s various categories and divisions.

Judging assignments are being prepared and will be emailed shortly.

A select group of out-of-state judges are being assigned the following categories:

* General Excellence
* Enterprise News Story or Series
* In-Depth Reporting
* Investigative Reporting
* Public Service Journalism

Winners will be announced in mid-March.
