Freelancers: CNPA contest deadline is approaching. Join CNPA so you can enter.
Freelance journalists: You have a chance to win some awards, which could raise your profile and boost your business, if you join the California News Publishers Association soon.
Once you’re a freelance member, you can enter the California Journalism Awards contest, which deadlines on Feb. 21.
Now that CNPA has opened its membership to freelancers, one of the big perks is to enter the prestigious contest, which is one of the largest in the country. And you can enter your work as individuals. Previously, it was up to CNPA-Member outlets to enter a freelancer’s work if it was published by their company.
Contest winners get the bragging rights as being the best in California.
Other benefits of being a CNPA Member include access to job listings, direct communication with California editors in an online forum, a CNPA-Member ID card, access to legal help, educational opportunities and seminars as well as attendance at the annual Capital Conference.
Also, you’ll have the CNPA team watching your back at the state Capitol, where freelance opportunities have come under attack in recent years by bad legislation.
