Freelance work you have published may be a winner, but only if it’s entered in the upcoming California Journalism Awards.

For the third year, CNPA is inviting freelancers to apply for full membership to our organization. This enables the freelancer to enter their contributions on their own, as long as they have been published by a CNPA-Member newsroom.

Freelance Members had a good showing in the 2022 California Journalism Awards, and these contenders always need new competition.

For many publications, freelancers have become the answer to supplying engaging and impactful news and features. Please talk up CNPA membership to freelancers you know.

A CNPA membership of $100 per year includes:

  • Direct connection to California editors in an online forum to pitch skills and ideas or find out what projects they need created.
  • A CNPA member ID card.
  • Access to CNPA’s job listings.
  • Access to legal help.
  • Access to educational opportunities and seminars, online and in person.
  • Eligibility to enter the prestigious California Journalism Awards contest to get your work showcased.
  • And he CNPA team watching your back at the state Capitol, where freelance opportunities have come under attack in recent years by bad legislation.
