Jonathan Whitaker (Merced County Times) writes: “I’m trying to find out who is the oldest working newspaper publisher in California.
“Our newspaper publishing company started in 1964, and we have had only one publisher, John Derby. At 87, Mr. Derby still plays an active role in the business. He thinks he might be the oldest newspaper publisher in the state who continues to work, albeit part-time. We are about to start celebrations for our 60th anniversary in business and we are looking for interesting things to highlight.”
Any others with a publisher still at it older than 87? Please let us know.
