California Journalism Awards 600x396It’s time to start gathering your entries for the 2017 California Journalism Awards (formerly called the CNPA Better Newspapers Contest).

Contest entry packages were mailed earlier this month. Category descriptions and entry rules are also available online:



Deadline for entries is Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. Contest period is Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2017.

Development of the new contest entry system from BetterBNC should be completed by Nov. 30. Watch for a notification at the top of the CNPA website directing your contest managers to the entry instructions.

Meanwhile, get your entries ready to upload.

  • Special Section Cover

General Excellence plaques will be presented at the California Journalism Awards luncheon on Saturday, April 14, 2018, during CNPA’s annual Press Summit at The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa.
