The California Journalism Awards features a separate Digital Contest this year for the first time.
With 22 categories ranging from General Excellence to Video Journalism, the Digital Contest will recognize the unique capabilities of online publishing.
CNPA Digital News Media members will compete against newspaper members, with the requirement that entries from newspapers must be substantially different from what appeared in print, either in content or in the way the content is presented.
For example, a print article must be presented online with additional materials, such as a video or other graphics not included in the newspaper.
Newspaper entrants will be asked to state how their digital entry is different from what appeared in print.
There are three divisions in the digital contest, based on average monthly unique visitors:
- Division A: 200,001 & over
- Division B: 40,001 – 200,000
- Division C: 40,000 & under
Please check that we have assigned your publication to the correct audience division when you enter the digital contest.
Notify contest administrator Simon Birch, (916) 288-6010, if there are changes to your publication’s information or if you have questions about the contest.
Entry packages were mailed to digital and newspaper members in November. If you have not received your package, they are available online.
