Green to executive editor at Press Democrat

Unnamed (3)Rick Green begins as executive editor at The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa on Feb. 22, the newspaper reports.

Green, a onetime top editor of The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, also will serve as chief content officer for Sonoma Media Investments, which operates The Press Democrat and properties including the Sonoma Index-TribunePetaluma Argus-CourierNorth Bay Business Journal and Sonoma County Gazette.

Green returns to California after holding top roles at newspapers in Kentucky, Iowa and New Jersey.

Former Executive Editor Catherine Barnett retired in December after 21 years with The Press Democrat.
