Gruner awards winners announced
The top Public Service journalism awards in the annual George F. Gruner Prizes went to The Bakersfield Californian, Merced Sun-Star and The Business Journal, Fresno.

The awards were established by McClatchy Newspapers. The Fresno State Department of Media, Communications and Journalism runs the awards, which are sponsored by the James McClatchy Foundation. The awards are housed through the George F. Gruner Prize for Meritorious Public Service in Journalism, a fund at the Central Valley Community Foundation.
