Howard Weaver, a former Opinion editor at The Sacramento Bee and VP of News at McClatchy, died Dec. 14, 2023, at home in Sacramento, The Bee reported. He was 73 and had pancreatic cancer.
Weaver was VP/News from 2001 to 2008.
“One of the really cool things about journalism to me, and particularly being an editor, was you got to exercise your ethical faculties,” Weaver said during a 2012 interview. “And like anything else, your ethical capacity — the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets.”
