In Memoriam: Jim Houck, 81

Houck, who worked at California newspapers starting in the 1960s, had been the Baltimore Sun’s managing editor before returning to California. He was city editor and managing editor in Visalia from 1998 to 2013 and returned as an investigative reporting specialist from 2014-2017.

“Working with Jim was the highlight of my career in Visalia,” News Editor Eric Woomer said. “He lit the flame of skepticism in me and others, and his drive to dig deeper is something I try to instill in reporters today.”
