Mark Lundgren, a longtime and respected editor at the San Francisco Chronicle, died March 17, 2022, of heart failure, The Chronicle reports. He was 64.

“After having worked at The Chronicle since 1987, touching nearly every corner of the newspaper with his verve and dedication to craft, Lundgren leaves an aching hole,” the remembrance said.

“Mark was an old-school editor who cared deeply about the written word, but he also was adapting to the digital world,” Chronicle Editor in Chief Emilio Garcia-Ruiz said.
