Five students have been confirmed for California Press Foundation internship grants in 2018. A panel of four Foundation reviewers selected the five from 15 applicants.
The students, who demonstrated an exceptional
interest in pursuing careers in the newspaper
business in California, will receive a $2,500
educational grant when they begin their internship in 2018.
The students are required to pursue and secure the internship on their own at CNPA-member companies. Internships, which can occur in spring or summer, must be full time and last at least six weeks.
The 2018 interns, their hometowns and colleges are:
- Kenneth Allard, Montrose; Glendale Community College
- Kellen Browning, Davis; Pomona College, Claremont
- Margaret Mayer, Orange; Chapman University
- Harrison McQuinn, North Hills; Los Angeles Valley College, Valley Glen
- Bianka Pantoja, Arvin; California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, finalist for the separately funded Advertising/Marketing internship grant.
Applications are accepted each Fall from full-time 3.0+ GPA college
sophomores, juniors or seniors pursuing newspaper journalism, advertising or marketing careers.
