The San Francisco Chronicle’s Jeff Johnson is Editor & Publisher’s 2017 Publisher of the Year.
His interview in the November issue outlines the continuing transformation of a 152-year-old company. “You don’t want to create a tough culture,” he says. “Our employees already have enough to deal with. You don’t want an environment where they feel beat up whenever they come in to work … they need one where they can go grow constructively filled with highly-motivated people because a bad culture can zap motivation.”
California’s previous E&P Publishers of the Year were Chris Anderson, then at the Orange County Register (2007), and Ginger Moorhouse, The Bakersfield Californian (2003).
