Jim Webb, former publisher of McNaughton Newspapers’ Mountain Democrat in Placerville, died Feb. 3, 2020, at home in El Dorado Hills, the newspaper reported. He was 79.
Webb was publisher there from 1985 to 2009.
“Jim brought professionalism and that winning personality to the Mountain Democrat,” said Foy S. McNaughton, the company’s president and CEO. “He pushed hard at the newspaper, but also gave his time to the community he grew to love.”
Prior to Placerville, Webb had been advertising director at the Auburn Journal and earlier had worked at newspapers in Los Angeles, Escondido and Fullerton.
He was a member of the CNPA Board of Directors from 1995 until his retirement.
