Our Advertising Division has an opening for an experienced and strategic Outside Sales Account Executive. An Outside Sales Account Executive will market and sell the benefits of advertising in The Bakersfield Californian and all other products in which The Californian has an involvement in a professional and knowledgeable manner towards achievement of sales goals. This position will collaborate with business owners to identify their needs, develop messages to reach their target market, and make their business more successful. Working with established and new customers, you will serve as the market expert on how to help them reach consumers with a targeted advertising campaign in both print and digital advertising.
- At least three years outside sales experience required, preferably in media sales
- Experience in print media or graphic design experience preferred
- Valid CA drivers license with acceptable DMV record, independent transportation and insurance required
- Ability to understand the clients business and respond with creative advertising solutions
- Demonstrated ability to present marketing information and communicate the value of marketing through The Bakersfield Californian’s suite of products
- Must be well organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and sell more than one product at a time
- Ability to understand and make established deadlines on a daily basis
- Good working knowledge of local marketing data is essential
- Basic computer proficiency- spreadsheets, Word documents and Gmail
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills
