John Futch, 75

John Futch, 75

John Futch, a former managing editor and executive news editor at Southern California News Group’s Press-Telegram in Long Beach, died Feb. 26, 2021, in Cambodia after suffering a head injury, the newspaper reported. He was 75.

Futch’s 45-year news career included two stints at The Press-Telegram. He also taught college journalism and was a mentor to young journalists. Futch had retired in 2010 and had lived in Cambodia for several years.
