Judges still needed for California Journalism Awards

Thanks to all CNPA members who entered this year’s California Journalism Awards and provided judges for the contest.

If you entered the contest but haven’t signed up judges, remember that contest rules require contestants to provide judges.

Here are this year’s requirements:


  • 50,001 and up: 4 judges
  • 15,001 to 50,000: 3
  • 15,000 and under: 2


  • 25,001 and up: 3
  • 11,001 to 25,000: 2
  • 4,301 to 11,000: 2
  • 4,300 and under: 1

Digital members

  • 200,001 and up monthly unique visitors: 3
  • 40,001 to 200,000: 2
  • 40,000 and under: 2

Note: Print media entering the Digital Division must provide one judge in addition to the judging requirements in the Print Division.


  • 4-year and 2-year colleges: 2
  • High schools: 1

Judges do not have to be employees of your publication as long as they are experienced journalists you feel are qualified to judge CJA entries.
