Bay City NewsBay City News Service, which provides regional news reports to news outlets in a nine-county region, has been sold. Terms were not disclosed.

The new owner is Katherine Ann Rowlands, a veteran journalist and former BCN employee. Rowlands has been an editor at Bay Area News group, a former John S. “My first journalism job was at Bay City News, where I learned the basics of reporting and later worked in every office, on every shift, and in every role,” Rowlands said in a news release. “It’s a dream come true to lead the company into the future by extending the legacy of fair, accurate and timely news coverage in the region.”

“I am extremely pleased that Kat will be running Bay City News,” said Wayne Futak, former BCN owner and manager. “She is an excellent journalist who has terrific news judgment. She also has a business background and broad knowledge of new media platforms.”

Futak will remain as a consultant on sales, editorial and technical matters.
