Lee Enterprises sells Santa Maria, Hanford groups

Lee Enterprises has sold the Santa Maria Times, The Lompoc Record, Santa Ynez Valley News and The Sentinel in Hanford to Santa Maria News Media Inc., the Santa Maria Times reports.

Santa Maria News Media Inc. is a newly formed company led by a group of Canadian newspaper executives whose other properties include The Bakersfield Californian, The Union Democrat in Sonora, The Porterville Recorder, the Appeal-Democrat in Marysville, Imperial Valley Press in El Centro, Lodi News-Sentinel and Antelope Valley Press.

CAL DVM, a wholly-held subsidiary of New Mexico brokerage Dirks, Van Essen, Murray & April, represented Lee Enterprises in the sale.

The Napa Valley Register and its weeklies continue as Lee Enterprises properties, Group Publisher Davis Taylor told CNPA on Monday.
