SB 931 by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) has introduced a bill that would require local legislative bodies to email the agenda and informational packets used in meetings to anyone who requests it under the Brown Act. Currently, local bodies, i.e. city councils, are required to provide a copy or mail the agenda and packets to anyone who requests it.

CNPA is a strong supporter of the bill.

While there may be potential for technical difficulties, this bill could reduce costs of copies and increase the public’s ability to immediately access information about their local government and the actions it takes.

The bill will be heard in the Senate Governance and Finance on March 18th, 2020 at 9:30am.
