209 Multimedia Corp. has acquired the assets of Morris Newspapers of California’s group, includingThe Manteca/Ripon Bulletin, Turlock Journal, Oakdale Leader, Ceres Courier, Escalon Times, Riverbank News and 209 Magazine, The Bulletin reports.
209 Multimedia’s owners are Hank and Kelly Vander Veen. Hank has been MNC’s group publisher for almost a decade and previously was publisher of the Merced Sun-Star.
“I firmly believe that local community news organizations remain vital to our democracy as the trusted local source for news and information,” said Hank Vander Veen, a member of the CNPA Board of Directors. “I am committed to fostering that environment while meeting the needs of all of our dedicated advertisers and subscribers.”
Georgia-based MNC had owned The Bulletin since 1972 and acquired the other papers in later years.
