Markhams sell Antelope Valley Press

The Markham family has sold the assets of the Antelope Valley Press in Palmdale, Los Angeles County, to Antelope Valley Press Inc. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The purchasing company’s owner, Canada-based Steven Malkowich, has newspaper operations that include several other CNPA-member publications in California.

The Antelope Valley Press, founded in 1915, has 11,000 daily circulation and 18,000 on Sunday.

“Now is the time for our family to make way for others with greater resources than ours,” Publisher William Markham said in a news release.

CAL DVM, a California subsidiary of Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, N.M., represented the Markham family in the sale.
