New format for CNPA annual meetings

The State Of News Dome HeaderGovernmental affairs has been identified as the single most important thing CNPA does for membership. Being properly represented in Sacramento is crucial to the success of our mission to champion the ideals of a free press in our democratic society and to promote the quality and economic health of California newspapers.

In an attempt to bolster attendance at both Governmental Affairs Day and the Press Summit, CNPA Board of Directors is combining these two events into a single conference in February to reduce costs and to minimize members’ time out of the office for our most critical mission-driven events.

This new CNPA Capital Conference will take place at The Sawyer Hotel, a new Kimpton property in the Downtown Commons mall at the Golden 1 Center, the first week in February and/or the last week in January for the next three years:

  • February 4-6, 2019 (Room rates $229+/night)
  • January 27-29, 2020 (Room rates $242+/night)
  • February 1-3, 2021 (Room rates $256+/night)

And while the business of CNPA is moving to Sacramento, celebrating our journalists and their contributions to society with extraordinary reporting throughout California will continue to be highlighted at the California Journalism Awards in a separate spring-fling gala event next year in Southern California. We’ll have more details about the upcoming CJA event later this summer.

We look forward to your continued support of the CNPA mission and our mutual goals for prosperity and freedom of the press. Contact Tom Newton or Renee Smith with questions.
