PACE reform bill signed at CNPA’s urging

Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill that will repeal a provision of law that made secret enforcement actions by the Department of Business Oversight against PACE solicitors and agents, which CNPA objected to in 2017.

SB 1087 by Senator Richard Roth (D-Riverside) was introduced to repeal and replace a provision in AB 1284 by Asm. Matt Dababneh which created a bar to disclosure of this information. The bill restores the discretion to disclose investigations into minor offenses, and provides access to public orders when the DBO prohibits a PACE solicitor or agent from continuing to operate in California.
