Audience Engagement Editor Prachi Singh of India Currents led Newsletter Growth – How We Did It, where panelists shared tested strategies for growing audiences, increasing engagement, and turning newsletters into powerful tools for reader connection and revenue.
Turning Newspapers into Successful Nonprofits, moderated by CNPA Board Member Vandana Kumar of India Currents, explored sustainable journalism models. Panelists offered case studies and guidance for outlets making the leap to nonprofit status.
Lessons Learned in Reporting the L.A. Fires, moderated by Daniel Tedford of the Southern California News Group, examined how local outlets navigated the immense challenges of wildfire coverage, drawing lessons from both recent and past fire events.
Protecting Press Freedom in Challenging Times, moderator Julie Makinen of the Coachella Valley Journalism Foundation led a powerful conversation about the threats facing press freedom and the advocacy work required to defend it.
Celebrating Investigative Reporting: Insights from CNPA Award Finalists, also moderated by Makinen, featured the remarkable stories behind some of this year’s most impactful investigative work and the tenacity it takes to pursue truth in the public interest.
And Iain Christie from the Google News Initiative offered a practical, hands-on look at Getting Started with AI Tools for News, demonstrating how even small newsrooms can begin implementing AI solutions today.
