A national effort to encourage newspapers to publish editorials this Thursday might have escaped your attention. Or your newspaper might not publish on Thursdays.
Either way, heads up:
As noted in last Friday’s CNPA Legislative Bulletin, the push from Marjorie Pritchard, the Boston Globe’s deputy editorial page editor, is for unique, local editorials addressing the administration’s assault on the press.
“The dirty war on the free press must end,” the call to action says.
“Publications, whatever their politics, could make a powerful statement by standing together in the common defense of their profession and the vital role it plays in government for and by the people.”
More than 200 newspapers have joined the effort. Please email Marjorie Pritchard at The Globe if you’ll be participating.
