Jason Schaff, a semi-retired California news executive, is serving as administrator of the California Journalism Awards under contract with CNPA Services Inc.
Schaff is a former top editor at the Santa Clarita Valley Signal and San Fernando Valley Business Journal, and earlier was business editor, editor and reporter at other Los Angeles-area newspapers.
He will oversee the entry, judging and awards stages of the contest, which is one of the largest in the country. In 2019, the CNPA contests contained 2,969 entries.
“I am privileged to have the opportunity to serve CNPA Members and the state’s newsrooms by overseeing these contests,” Schaff said. “As an editor, I am well aware of the prestige of the contests and the precision and integrity needed to ensure a fair and efficient operation.”
CNPA Members can reach Schaff at (916) 288-6023 or email@example.com.
Entry packages for the Print, Digital and Campus contests will be mailed to CNPA Members shortly, and they will be available for download online.
The contest recognizes the outstanding reporting, design, photography and multimedia of CNPA members from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2020. The entry deadline is Jan. 25, 2021.
