The Fresno State Institute for Media and Public Trust will hold a seminar on science and environmental reporting on the afternoon of March 18 at Fresno State.
The keynote speaker will be Pulitzer Prize winner, author — and onetime reporter at The Fresno Bee and The Sacramento Bee — Deborah Blum, who now runs the science journalism program at MIT.
A panel discussion will cover the challenges that science and environmental journalists face in today’s political environment. The panel, which will feature some of the top science journalists in the country, is being assembled. Please save the date.
Meanwhile, the Institute will co-sponsor the Tatarian Symposium from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 on campus. The topic is “Putting Fake News in the Rear View Mirror: How the media can win back the trust of all Americans.”
The event is free to all and features a keynote speaker (Stephen Engelberg of ProPublica) and a panel (Sewell Chan of the Los Angeles Times, Scott Wilson of the Washington Post and Juliet Williams of The Associated Press).
