Terry Tang is now interim executive editor at the Los Angeles Times, the newspaper reports. She had been editor of the editorial page and is the first female editor in the paper’s 142-year history.
Tang, with The Times since 2019, previously worked at The New York Times, American Civil Liberties Union, Seattle Times and Seattle Weekly.
Kevin Merida, The Times’ top editor since 2021, stepped down in January.
